That's my outdoor wheelchair. One thing I do like about it is that the armrests lift up to enable you to get your legs comfortably under a table at a restaurant for example. Mine also came with anti-tippers supplied which is essential for climbing a steep gradient as the chair is pretty light to self-propel and therefore tip over if you're a little over-enthusiastic (not that I've every actually hit them on the ground yet, just gives me peace of mind). It is somewhat lighter than my old NHS supplied chair and also lighter than the indoor one so it's ideal for the car boot. As I said, this one was supplied to me by the NHS.

    Hi Luminated,

I just wanted to mention something which I've just learnt about. :)
Our situation is a little different from yours, my husband can't self propel at all but you did say your wife is the main pusher.

We're looking at replacing his wheelchair, and are getting one with two different brakes. The ones on the handles (I operate) will help slow the chair down when going downhill. The ones on the chair wheels (which he can reach) will stop it from moving.

Sorry if you already know about this feature. :o
