I'm sorry? When did I take advantage of it? I've never claimed any Benefits apart from Child Benefit, which everyone with a child got in those days.
Child benefit is the most contentious benefit paid. You took it and accepted £15 a week at least for 1 child, don't know how many you had but for 16 odd years. Non means tested. I don't find that acceptable, I've not had kids and didn't ever want to have to pay for anyone elses, regardless of their income
& you'll accept your state pension won't you? I assume.
you've had a free education, health, etc - you've consumed in fact more public services than I have cause your older than me and have kids.0 -

You tell me how much child benefit you've accepted from the state in the last 10 years and I'll tell you how much child benefit I've received.
Is that a deal???0 -

Yes, I took what was offered, like you have.
Child benefit for one child, until he was 17. (1980-87)
State Pension that I had paid NI for nearly forty years for - been receiving that for nearly three years.
Bus pass.
Winter fuel allowance since last year.
What's the problem? I've not once said you are not entitled to what you have, not do I begrudge it you,all I have said was that it was a source of income that was quite likely to disappear!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

I think the answer would probably be 'none' from both of us!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

If you are following that note, it could be asked how much TAX have you paid in the last 10 years and how much benefits have you received for that tax?
You begrudge someone £15 a week? It's not the hundreds a week - like DLA and ESA is. Do you want any benefits in 10 years time? It is other people's children who will be paying your benefits and pension - many of whom got £15 a week to raise their children when transport to school and school related activities/uniform cost a lot more than that (even without food).
Sorry but you are coming accross very critical and bitter now and also getting personal.0 -

Err NO!

I didn't receive any so that makes you thousand of pounds, better off so to speak, than me over the years.
Anyhow, don't want to fall out over such a silly thing so I'm signing out.
Goodnight.0 -
Oh apart from the fact that you say your husband retired early (55) on a teacher's pension, - ie tax payer funded civil service pension?????
So in theory............????0 -

You said over the last ten years. I haven't received any Child Benefit over the last ten years. I stopped receiving it in 1997!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

No..it is a Teachers ' Pension, not Civil service and HE paid a shedload of HIS salary into it.
And he retired early for health reasons. Basically he couldn't carry on any longer.(AKA HRH_MUngo)
