No worries buddy, appreciate you trying to help!!
  • They won't be able to get your address from the DVLA purely on what you tell them in a letter because the agency merely links name and address to vehicle. On this occasion, the vehicle in question was addressed to the hire company. Obviously they need to write somewhere but there is nothing to be lost from you declaring the actual address where you'd like them to send mail.

As for future problems between you and VCS, there won't be. If you deliberately get yourself a parking charge (with your own car) seven days a week, each case will be freshly pursued. Each time they will need to request keeper details because even if they have you on their database for a live charge, nothing is telling them you haven't sold the car.

To be honest, the whole scheme is faceless. Nobody in that company knows any of the names of its targets: everything is generated at the click of a mouse, all letters by them including their automated appeal rejections are only templates. The system works according to time, if they give something 28 days and in this time the matter is unaddressed, it raises alarms so they progress to the next stage. The final threatogram will be about the fifth, each contrived to be gloomier than the previous.

You are analysing this far too much and thinking there will have to be correspondence between you but in fact it will be one-way traffic as far as the letters are concerned.

First you just need to make sure the letters come to you. It doesn't matter which address you give - it could even be your Auntie's/Cousin's address as long as they understand it's all a scam and won't panic about these letters (no-one can 'send the boys round' by the way).

Preferably use a more long-term address though so any later letters can still be handled and ignored by you personally over the coming months.

Your company has the right idea, let them name you as the person who had responsibility for that car; tell them which address you would like them to give for you. Sounds a great approach by your company and IMHO you are at no risk from VCS after the 2 Court losses they suffered in May this year (see the third from top thread for links to both cases). They are not going to get their fingers burnt again in a hurry, especially with the Protection of Freedoms Act to concentrate their efforts next month.

So, like all the other posters on this board, you have a fake PCN.

When dealing with "tickets" from private parking companies (PPCs) our advice for tickets received up until the end of September is to ignore them - in your case, ignore them once the letters are coming to you. Once they have your details they must not send letters to your company or the lease co. again. You will just receive the usual threatograms and can play a nice game of snap with them.

Tick off the threatening letters here. (same thread as I mentioned above).

Watchdog clip with expert Solicitor's opinion here.

    Barrister's opinion here.

Show your friends & family the links and make sure your details are sent off sharpish to the scammers (it's safe, honestly, as you need the companies out of the loop). Get ready to play your game of snap!

    :)
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • It baffles me in the wording of many of those threatograms, especially that Sobell creature, that they should produce states to the effect of, "you don't believe me huh? Then go seek legal advice!".

It's a bit like me walking into Tesco and telling the manager that I have the right to take anything I like without paying, and if he doesn't believe me, he should ask the police!

    Hi Renegade,

Thanks once again for the help (and everyone else). I have nice colourful version of the PCN ('Parking'...) from VCS Ltd now addressed to me posted to my address, saying I have 14 days etc... from 25/09...

Obviously, only have 1 letter to play snap with at the moment (not that I'm complaining :-o)

You mentioned in the previous message, something about talking me through it on the day of the race...?? Do I now need to write a letter to them? If so; would greatly appreciate your guidance on it and/or perhaps developing a template or something which could perhaps be put on here for other members to use, should they come across the same THIEVING BA$:hello:ARD$!!

    Cheers

Don't write to them. Just keep ignoring their letters (and those of any debt collector or pretend solicitor) and eventually they will just give up and go away.
