All in one printer

Options
Please can somebody recommends a decent all in one printer. Lexmark cartridges are too expensive, somebody mentionned a Canon. Also, can the scanner handle anything, with my present stand alone scanner, I have problems with numbers, asd it does not scan the document exactly as it is. Thanks.

Bought a Epson RX420 at Amazon £79.99 for kids, very pleased with results.RX425 same model but with PC designation.
Replacement compatibles from choicestationery £11.49 for the four colours.
Work out cheaper if you buy multipacks
  • If you're looking for a stand-alone fax as well, I reccommend the brother MFC3820CN, it is network ready + has docs feeder + card reader. Cartridges are reasonable (from ebuyer). Print quality is good for most purposes but don't expect too much.

Was £169, now £99.86 delivered from Viking Direct.
I have one and I think it's a great all rounder.

Very happy with my Epson CX3200. It's quite big and a little ugly, but it prints well and it's very easy to use. The ability to photocopy without the computer being on can be handy too. Epson cartridges are pricey at about £20 a pop, but I buy Inkrite ones from Ebuyer at around £2.50 each and they do the job just fine

I also prefer a separate printer and scanner for various reasons.

If you're concerned about scan quality check out the resolution differences between a stand alone scanner and the scanner on the multi printer/scanner. I think you'll find the multi scanners don't come quite so well spec'd - unless you've got megabucks to spend.

Also you have a better choice of printers (and various cartridge options) if you buy separately. There's a new Epson (I think the C66) which uses a cartridge for each individual colour, which makes replacing the most economical. Easy to get remanufacted cartridges too.
Money can't buy you happiness, but it does bring you a more pleasant form of misery.
