Network - File & Printer sharing aid needed

Options
Hi, hope someone can help me.

I recently decided to go wireless so that I could share my satellite broadband internet connection.
My ISP recommended a Linksys Broadband Router.

This was purchased, as well as a Linksys Wireless Network Adapter. Both items are working fine
and both my partner and I can surf on our respective PC's.

I would now like to network both PCs so that I can share files and our one printer.

I have enabled files and printer sharing on both PC's using the wireless networking wizard, both PC's run Windows XP with Service Pack 2 installed, but neither PC can see the other. Can someone advise me if networking the PC's is possible with the present setup I have or do I need another router or switch? If at all possible can someone point me to a walkthrough for the setup.

Finally, assuming I can get the PC's to share,my work laptop runs Windows 2000, will I be able to add this to the network?

Hope someone can assist.

A

do you have firewalls? if so you may have to allow each other permissions.
if you dont know how to do that post the firewall brand u have and im sure some1 can tell you how

    another quick check->
on one machien go to the start menu-run>cmd
type ipconfig you will have an ip look something like (192.168.... or 10.0.0...) take a note of that address. now from the other computer go to my computer and in the address bar type \\(the ip u have just found) eg ->\\192.168.0.13

if you can access the other machine then its unlikely your firewall is blocking anything.

dont disable for long term just enough to see if it works if it does then in your firewall you should have a setting to allow local networking

"under Norton Firewall > configure, check the networking tab.
Try adding your network card here - I think there is a wizard to do this for you?" if not try adding local addresses eg 192.168.0.1 - 192.168.0.255 or 10.0.0.1-10.0.0.255
