One way travel insurance from USA

Not sure whether this should be posted here or in travel so will do both. My daughter has been in the USA for over two months. She was due to arrive back on 13th September but was forced to extend her stay and will now by flying out today, arriving tomorrow. It didn't occur to her that her insurance will have run out. I have been trying to get cover, basically just for a couple of days (although would obviously pay for longer if min is 5 days), to cover her getting home. The trouble is, the people I've contacted here have insisted that the person insured must be in the UK at the time of taking out insurance, which she obviously isn't. They also insist they must be a British citizen, and I'm presuming US insurers will insist that travellers booking from that end are US citizens (too early in the day for me to check direct). Just wondering if anyone knows if it will be possible to get insurance from anyone given the situation? Thanks a lot.

UK Travel insurers insist that the insured is a UK Resident not a British Citizen - what is her nationality/ where is she permanently resident?
Obvious first port of call would be seeing if her existing insurers will extend the cover
Second option is the likes of World Nomad that provide cover for whoever wherever with the T&Cs just providing restrictions in "your country of permanent residency"0 -
World Nomads or www.worldwideinsure.com0

Thanks for the info. My daughter's a UK resident, usually resident in London. I did go back to her original insurer but because the policy had already lapsed, they were unable to help. The sticking point is that she's already in the States. I'm waiting for World Nomad to get back to me. I tried the other suggestion - worldwideinsure.com - but got the standard response that she has to be in the UK when the insurance is taken out.0

For me, the primary reason for travel insurance is the medical cover - particularly whilst holidaying in USA.
If she is leaving today, what aspects of a travel policy does she want?0 -
I tried the other suggestion - worldwideinsure.com - but got the standard response that she has to be in the UK when the insurance is taken out.If your travel plans have changed and your current insurers are unable to alter or extend your policy, you will need flexible cover to take over the risk for the remainder of your trip. Our longstay overseas travel insurance can not only do that, but can be extended any number of times if your plans change again. You can purchase cover for both leisure and working trips.

Although it states long term from 2-18 months, plans change and it could just be that she came home early. I would try calling them again.0 -

This is a UK site so it's unlikely anyone will have that information. I suggest you try a USA website.0 -
I know True Traveller Insurance does this. Just go to http://www.adventuretravelinsurance.co.uk0
