Does a naked broadband line cost less to provide and maintain than a line with telephony and broadband ?, you state you are not in a VM area, so presumably you would consider their broadband only deal, that's £22.50 upto £38 depending on speed, shop around and you could match or beat that with a low cost line rental provider, one that makes a bit extra by charging for things like caller display and an answer service that you don't need and a broadband provider, then don't plug a phone in, you then have what you want.
Personally, I don't care about the price, that isn't the issue here for me. I'd be more than happy to pay extra for higher broadband speed, if I had the option. I'm with TalkTalk as it is and I have to suffer 3mb speeds over the present copper wire line which I find ludicrous. However, if I am to continue to suffer this, I would rather be given the option of not having a voice package at all. Anyway, I've made the only choice available to me as it is and unplugged my 'phone from the wall which is not a solution is it?0 -

I am a Virgin Media customer, and have not had a landline for 9 years now. Don't miss it in the slightest.
I have 20mb broadband with them and they charge £18/month.
If i had a landline as well, they would charge £24/month.
£6/month saving for something i don't want. i'm happy.
Nobody i know aged 18-35 uses a landline at all, though about half are having to pay for a landline to get broadband.0 -
Service providers have the knowledge to provide standalone broadband through a fibre connection, like Virgin can do (although its rarely good value for money), but it makes no sense financially for them to offer that service, so i can't see it happening.0
