    Dear HMG,

We don't hate the university fees and loans system because we don't understand it.

On the contrary, we hate it because we understand it very well and consider it to be a great evil that you have brought down upon the shoulders of the young of our country.

So why not give it a rest with the "confused" line as it's an insulting distraction.

    Thanks
I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.
  • This is part of the new exam system Michael Gove is bringing in. Tests cognitive skills and ability to spot bull ****.

The government aren't saying you are confused - the researchers are.

And of course you think it's "evil" - it requires you to actually pay your own way. Something many students seem to have a vendetta against doing...

And don't say "my future taxes will pay for it" - there is no guarantee that anyone at university is going to generate any additional taxes afterwards. I, for example, will be emigrating to Australia. The British government will therefore have paid for my entire education then received virtually nothing back as all my taxes go to the Australian government. What an amazing plan that is for a country that's currently struggling under it's debt burden!

Sorry, but I've sat through a tedious session with a government sponsored department where the "you only hate it because you don't understand it" line was pretty much the only content.

I have no objection to paying my own way, far from it. But this tax dressed up as a loan, with its escalating interest rates to prevent many people escaping this debt for many decades, doesn't work on many levels.
And don't say "my future taxes will pay for it"
As I paid enough tax to cover my own (hypothecated) fees and grant within a couple of years of leaving Uni, I think I've earned to right to say exactly that. My daughter will do the same within 4-5 years.

That's because we're trying to cram too many people through the university system.

    I hope you're not studying English. :D

  • Hi Guys.
I'm working and registered to start uni. full time course degree for 3 years. My current job is earning me around 32k yearly., But that's all my income for a family of 4 with mortgage and 2 children

I have a question: Am I entitled for full tuition fee loan and are there any other grants or bursaries to inquire about ????
