Cheap parking near Manchester Met (Oxford Road, Manchester)

Hi I've recently just bought my first car and did not realise how expensive parking is in the center of Manchester. Being a student I do not have much money (my whole wage goes on just paying off my car) so I was wondering if there are any cheaper places to park near MMU? I'll only need to park there three days a week for a maximum period of 7 hours.
Thankyou
Thankyou

Are you kidding?
Manchester buses are ridiculously cheap. you can get a weekly pass for something like 8 pounds. Probably cheaper than 3 days parking and petrol.
There are already too many cars on the road!0 -

Probably cheaper than 3 days parking and petrol.
And the risk of having the car broken into. My wife drives to Salford Uni and parks on the street in walking distance, she's been there 12 months and had it broken into once already.
Of course cycling would be even cheaper, I cycle into Manchester and it's quicker than driving.
Just have a drive around the area at the weekend there are plenty of residential areas around the university where you can park and walk in, but accept that there will be lots of other cars also parked for 7 hours at a time in the same location and such areas are a target for thieves, as they know you'll be gone most of the day, it's easy pickings.
Which Campus are you on and where do you live?0 -
Only just seen these posts.
I am living off campus at home, which is about a half hour drive.
I understand buses are cheap in Manchester but they are not cheap when I have to get 3 buses to get to Uni and they are all different bus companies.
Thanks JQ think I'll have a look around. I know what you mean about damage though as my friend attends Salford Uni and has had her car keyed several times over the past year when parked in a residential area.0
