After a long stretch of unemployment I have started work early in Sept. Have notified the tax credit. Also informed them that I am disabled. Received amended paperwork. There was no mention of disability element. Have rang up WTC office only to be told by the most bored person that another office will look at my disability element.
Is this correct?

Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems
Well at least i learn something on the way

I have not heard of that before however they may be checking that you meet the WTC disability element rules:
The Working Tax Credit (Entitlement and Maximum Rate)Regulations, Reg. 4 and Reg. 9
The disability element is payable if the claimant, or at least one of the claimants in a joint claim:- is engaged in qualifying remunerative work for at least 16 hours a week and
- has a physical or mental disability which puts him at a disadvantage in getting a job and
- satisfies the “qualifying benefit test”
