    Was your application on "fast-track?"

You're unlikely to have been audited then.

Halifax samples around 8.5% of its cases to ensure the information on the application matches the supporting documentation. Fast-track means there's little documentation requested at the outset, with any requests left if/until the case is pulled for audit.

It's these audits which often result in offers being withdrawn as the evidence doesn't back-up what was stated on the application.

I'm not sure if non-fast track cases are audited, as it would seem pointless to re-check what's already been submitted and approved by an underwriter.

  • Thanks KingStreet. I have been told the case has been with the underwriters for last 3 days and this is the fourth day. If i do not hear by Wednesday at latest i will need to find out what is casung the delay. Is it possible to speak to the underwriters direct myself? will the underwriters take more than 5 days on a case? I am only changing property details with same lender and it's been 3 weeks since valuation and still no offer yet.

    Thanks
    Steve

Halifax don't give access to underwriters to either applicants or brokers. I don't know what the Halifax business turnaround times are these days, but they have previously been five business days before an item is even looked at, so I wouldn't worry just yet.

I am getting things turned around quicker than this, closer to 2-3 days and 2 days with a chase.

As I orginally suggested, this is strange. Strange could be down to human error at input or at the service centre, but something is odd.

I wish you well though and fingers crossed for an offer soon

Thanks. I have spoken to Halifax and been told the reason for the delay is that they are doing some quality assurance checks on my application. They said that it is with underwriters but not in a bad way. They asked me to get everything in place so when the offer comes out i can move things very quick. Sounds very positive to me what you guys think?
