Paypal refund-can it be reversed?

I received a refund for a damaged item I bought. The refund was a no return one. Can the seller in any way claim the refund back to themselves, eg. a bank chargeback etc or now I have my refund am I 100% safe to use my refund to purchase another form a different seller?

  • No they cant claim it back, its yours.
  • Not even if they do a bank chargeback? I have been worried by a friend who has said this can happen and the bank will take it back from paypal who will then take it off me?

If they have voluntarily refunded the original transaction and it has cleared into your Paypal account (not pending etc), I cant see how that would work.
They would have to convince PayPal/card company that some unauthorized person has logged in and refunded a random person.

As far as I know, refunds come from your/their Paypal funds and not from a card anyway. I have never seen the option to refund from a card (someone else may have, but I cant remember ever seeing this option).
  • They used the refund option on the 12th Sep, money went into my paypal today-so I am assuming the refund has come through their bank to paypal and then to mine like a echeque..which has got me worried they could do a chargeback through the bank. They cant say they did not authorise the refund as they rang paypal and confirmed that had done this themselves on the 12th Sept..

I wouldn't say its impossible, but I cant remember a post on here when a voluntary refund has been reversed (Paypal changing thier mind in a dispute maybe).
