Rabbit In A Conservatory

Hi all,
I am thinking of getting a rabbit, but keeping it in my Conservatory? would this be safe? I haven't heard anything about this before..
I would be keeping the hut in there, but still be letting the rabbit out in the garden for exercise as usual.
Any advice?

Conservatories would probably be hot for him in the summer. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Get a thermometer with a min and max recording and see how warm it gets first. I used to foster ferrets and they were in a summerhouse that I removed all the glass windows from (put bars over them) and I covered the roof with white tarpaulin to reflect the sun, but in the warmer weather (not even midsummer but this warm September weather like recently too) it could reach 30 degrees in there, way too hot, so I had a hutch outside (which I later moved into an aviary that I joined onto the side of the summerhouse - would shut the access door to the summerhouse when it was really hot) a well. A conservatory would get a lot warmer than that I imagine and you could definately put the rabbit at risk of heatstroke.
Rabbits are social animals that fare well in pairs too

Mine are great in our conservatory but we have hedges blocking the sun so it's not massively hot (hot days they go in to the rest of the house). check it doesn't get too hot in summer and they have a place to hide and escape from the sunlight and heatYes Your Dukeiness0

Our conservatory tends to be either quite hot or quite cold, so I wouldn't risk keeping my bunnies in there. So echo the advice to record min and max temperatures
Also echo I'd never keep a bunny alone, so why not contact a local rescue to try to adopt a bonded pair (bonding can be tricky, but not always)

Thanks for your replies, think im going to do some more research. Like the idea of taking note of the temperatures from highest to lowest so i shall give that a go.
Thanks Again0
