Tax credits

Hi there
wonder if anyone can help...I am currently a full time mum but my husband works full time. We receive working tax and child tax credit but I am considering getting a part time job. Can anyone tell me what hours affect my tax credits? I have heard before that working under 16 hours doesn't affect them? Is this correct? Don't know if I should be looking only for something under 16 hours or if it matters. Any advice much appreciated
Thanks

No it's wrong. Your hours are irrelavent (unless you want to claim for childcare, in which case you have to work 16+ hours).
But your income is relevant. Your tax credits will be based on your joint income. However there is a £10k disregard for income increases so your tax credits may not go down till next April if you start earning.0 -
Hoping to just rely on my husband for childcare as he has three days off a week.
Thanks very much for your advice, back to the job hunting!0 -
he might work 12 hour shifts on the other 4 days.
that would put him in excess of full time hours0 -
No he works ten hour shifts the other four days, well it generally works out around 37 hours0
