Enhanced CRB check times

My last one was 8 days from posting form to getting full crb back. Got 1st check letter after about 5 days (I am employer and employee).June challenge £100 a day £3161.63 plus £350 vouchers plus £108.37 food/shopping saving
July challenge £50 a day. £ 1682.50/1550
October challenge £100 a day. £385/£31000 -
Mine only took 2 working days too. It seems if its done electronically, that's all it takes. Organisations that do it via form filling on paper have to wait weeks.I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0

I do a lot of crb checks in my job. The shortest I've known one to come back is 3 days and the longest is 6 weeks.0

Mine all got messy because of the silliness over "mothers maiden name"0 -

Stage 1 (Application Form received and validated): Completed on 18 Sep 2012
Stage 2 (Police National Computer searched): Completed on 19 Sep 2012
Stage 3 (ISA Children, ISA Adults, List 99 searched): Completed on 19 Sep 2012
Stage 4 (Records held by the Police search): In Progress
Stage 5 (Disclosure Printed): Not Started
I have no criminal history and have only ever lived in Cambridgeshire, what kind of time would I be looking at before I could start?
(Sorry if it's been asked before, I'm just impaitent and want to start working)
I too have been sweating on CRB since i had job interview on 16/08/12 and was offered the job later the same day. Aside from a slight delay in getting the CRB form to me and i was really starting to worry that there was some issue with some of the other pre-employment checks. I migh add that i had a full disclosure granted back in Feb 2012 when i signed up with an agency.
However, after a quick call to the CRB office they like the other poster confirmed that at the start of the academic year there can be a backlog. My CRB finally arrived yesterday and it confirms that copy has been dispatched to my new employer.
My other problem with this delay was dealing with the job centre when signing on. Despite actually confirming to them that i had a secured a job they rather rudely insisted that i still need to show on my paperwork that i could evidence 3 attempts at job seeking. This was despite me showing them the conditional offer and having explained that the only reason was the CRB delay and that i'd had one in Feb.
I am expecting the contract and start date to arrive in the next few days with probably a start date for 01/10/12. However, this Tues i am expected to turn up at the job centre and lie to them about my job search activities and they know i am lying!0 -

As I say, it was a pain from "day one" (think it was actually day 5 when they called asking for my mothers maiden name) and took months for them to complete it0 -
Hi...sorry to gate crash the thread...but im hoping you lovely people can shed a little bit of light on the whole crb process...my crb was accepted by home office on the 21/08/2012...stage 1,2&3 were completed on 04/09/2012... Since then my crb has been sitting at stage 4...the job i am waiting to start, i was offered the position on 01/08/2012...i had a crb done in august for an agency, which was completed online and it took around 3 weeks to come back...however...my new one was completed in paper format...will this make any difference in the process time?...i am constantly checking online and know the reference number off by heart...i know i am not the only person waiting for a crb completion but i am getting very frustrated now and i really want to start work...thanks for reading my post0
