eBay - wiped my starting price?!

I have an item for sale with starting price £50. I have the confirmation email for listing it from eBay stating starting price £50.
...
I have just received a bid of 99p on it!
eBay has just wiped my starting price back to 99p? Has this happened to anyone else? I got through to customer service live chat but when I explained they 'lost connection' and now I can't get through.

Have a look at your account activity and see how much they have charged you.
Will it let you change the price, if you cancel the bid? If not - end item (without selling to current bidder) , and start again.0 -
Are you sure that you had a £50 starting price and not a £50 Buy it now price?
If you have a BIN option, this will vanish when the first bid is placed (unless the bid hasn't reached a reserve if one was set).0 -
Yes I am sure. There was no bin and the listing confirmation email states "starting price £50, listing fee £1".0

In that case contact eBay by phone and get your fees back0 -
I concur, phone ebay. I have never ever heard of this happening before but ebay has been glitchy.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
