It would, because the PrC part refers only to the preliminary course, which in this case would be the OU part. That's probably where SFE have fallen down, as they're trying to take into account the course prior to that, which the regulations do not permit them to do.

Hi sorry to hijack thread -

does this mean that if you have studied at university...

and then moved to OU study then SFE will take into account the OU study when working on the idea of 3+1 (for a three year degree course)???

    many thanks,

    xx

The rule identified here relates to an 'end on' course which has a very specific definition(s).

Indeed. In this circumstance, it'd be a student topping up a lower qualification, meaning only the 'end-on' course is counted.
  • Its 20 working days, I have been quoted for compelling personal reasons, and the thing that really annoys me is, that even though I submitted 19 pages of evidence including doctors letters, court repossession letters, and everything else, despite me calling them every few days throughout, they waited until 3 working days before the assessment was due, to ask for another letter from my doctors, regarding my doctor writing to my university asking permission for me to defer, and I sent it by special delivery only for it to still not be on their systems. I even marked it urgent. I was also told, by the man I spoke to today, that my evidence wasn't 'sufficient' and when the letter was finally scanned onto their systems, it might be another 20 days or it might be longer. The way they spoke to me today, makes it sound that I have no hope. :(
  • And my official enrolment is tomorrow. With all the new procedures in place, it looks like I am committing to something that is going to leave me with around 25% of tuition fees to pay and they will reject it :(

I was told 15, then 14 so apparently am due a decision next week, I've missed my enrolment but the university are being fantastic about it all so hopefully it'll all be sorted by then!

I hope yours gets sorted too blueberry5

  • Hi, I have been told by Student Finance England they will only pay for my 2nd and 3rd year of my uni course because in 2007-2009 I got £1500 funding for a HNC day release course. I am now expected to pay £8200 tuition fees because of the 4 years of funding rule. My argument is that, a) i wasnt made aware of this b) i wouldnt be able to do this course without commpleting the HNC and C) it was a day realease course over 2 years not full time education. Do i have any chance of them changing there mind? any help would be appreciated. I am about to write to appeals and explain i simply cannot afford this.

Taiko might be able to help but you're probably better off starting your own thread
