Catflap into a composite door

I'm getting new front and back composite doors installed into my home along with new doubling glazing thanks to housing assosication. However, I have two cats who need to use a catflap as I am out at work all day! Is it possible to install a cat flap into a composite door? what sort of price would I be looking at to get it done? Any help would be much appreciated as I'm getting the doors fitted next week and I imagine I will have two unhappy cats if I don't get this sorted ASAP.

  • It is possible to fit a flap into a composite door. Ask the people installing the door to do it or at least tell them you want one of the lower panels to be replaced with a cat flap before they come.

  • Thanks, they won't do it as they are paid by my housing association, but now I know it can be done, I will look into getting somebody to do it once the door is installed! Do you have any idea on the kind of price and what type of trades person I would need to contact?
  • Errrrr.......dont think your Housing Association are going to be best pleased if you start hacking holes in their new doors are they ??
