wrongly claiming benefits: my dilema

  • This is really tricky,
but wasn't the social system designed to help the needy and poor and not the greedy? It's also obtaining money by deception and theft!
They have a combined income of 60k, why then get childcare on top and tax credits?
it's wrong on many levels and I hope they will get named and shamed for greed and deception

  • Report them.
    I'm not that way reclined

Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!

It sounds to me that because the situation is quite complex, you could report them, and it is unlikely to reflect back on you.

I would struggle to be friends with people in a situation like this. I would feel tainted.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

    1) Phil has his own address with bills in his name, therefore he can use this as evidence that he does not live with Louise, therefore his income is irrelevant. He rents out to family which is not declared, so he tells the authorities that they all live together.

    2) Louise claims benefits as a single person and has proof that she lives in her parents home, any money that Phil gives her in maintenance for the child is not counted for any benefit purposes.

    3) The childminder states that she looks after a child and completes the forms, she is not going to tell the authorities that she does not have the child as this would incriminate herself. She may keep records and journals as if she has the child and put payments through her books and offset costs for this child. Not all childminders are honest and this was a commonplace scam with minders and nurseries when tax credits were first introduced.
    1. Everything would need to be registered in his name inc. gas, electricity, home contents insurance - to name but a few. Something tells me he wont have everything covered. The tenants must be barking mad if they have allowed him to take control of everything inc. any child benefit, WTC, etc etc.

    2. Claiming benefits while living with her parents - I dont think she will be getting a lot and I did think maintenance would be included in her entitlement???

    3. Taken very seriously by the authorities and she could lose her licence if she was found out. I cant believe she is being this stupid.
She could be done for fraud because she has to declare her "parents and children" to the authorities for all manner of reasons. Mad girl.
  • A 4 bedroom house for £300 pcm?

Or even £600 pcm if you assume he has a half share?

I need to know the bloke's real name if that's all he charges.

Go ahead. Report it. Chances are they'll still get away with it. She'll say he was just visiting, the parents will confirm. He'll say he has his own house.

The childminder will swear blind the kid was there, as the alternative is losing her livelihood.

I won't lose any sleep over you reporting them.

I am, however, assuming that this isn't just all bluster and showmanship for someone who is actually up to their neck in debt and lying about the scam to try and make themselves feel good about being homeless with a baby. (I have heard people claim to own houses, cars, boats, everything when they're actually sofa surfing, so it's not unheard of)
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

I assumed the £300pcm was the profit after the mortgage had been paid.

    1) Not everything, it is not uncommon for a man to say he lives elswhere (ie parents or friend not on benefits) and the only bill in his name is his phone bill. The tenants can live there and claim everything in their own name, there is nothing to prevent families living in the same house. There may be an issue if housing benefit was involved, depending on their status.

    2) According to the OP she is receiving Working and Child Tax Credits. I included this when referring to benefits. Maintenance for children is completely ignored it is only maintenance for herself which would be included. In theory a man can give his non working ex £1000 month child maintenence and she could still claim Income support, housing benefit etc.

    3) Totally agree but it happens and she has to answer to ofsted as well as the taxman.

Shocking I know but we don't know the half of what people get away with

Ditto - OP says "makes" rather than "charges"

I would report it. Nothing may come of it if it's only looked at briefly but you'll know you've done everything you can do, it's up to the relevant parties to investigate further.
  • Report them, i could never be friends or associate with someone who defrauds the System like that, Feel sorry for the kid tho, not his fault. Anyway the way I see it people like that may get away with their deception for a while but it will always come back to bite them in the backside and thats exactly what they deserve.
LOVE isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live WITHOUT

That's how I feel. They are thieves who have planned and schemed the best way to steal as much money as possible.
