How much should your weekly groceries bill be?

For a family of 3 adults?

We live in the Midlands ... what would you say is a reasonable amount for the weekly shop? Including detergents, kitchen rolls, and bathroom stuff etc (soap/loo rolls/STs/shampoo etc)

That is all going to depend on where you shop....

M&S or waitrose is going to cost a lot more than Aldi etc.

Also what type of food etc you like. What type of job you do can also have a big effect. Dirty job is going to cause a higher % of spend on cleaning products over a clean job.

We spend anything between £30 and £60 a week depending on what is needed.
Then again I'm quite tight fisted and will wait till offers are on and by a lot on the cheap, rather than just buy as needed.

I would go by what CCCS recommends. For 3 adults CCCS recommends a figure somewhere between £248 and £473 per month. Weekly that would be between £57 and £109. It depends on what income you have and what you need to buy as to what you feel is an appropriate amount.

  • Way too many variables to give an accurate answer.

Thank you! We (2 adults and one 17 y.o) spend on average, about £75 a week, and my friend spends £200 on 2 adults and 3 kids! A lot I think.
