NEXT delivery double charge for postage!

Just venting on here to see if anyone else has had a similar problem with Next.
I placed an order in store last Saturday and since the store didnt have it in stock I paid the delivery charge to have it sent to my home tomorrow ( wed) since then I've realised that I need another item so I rang customer services to explain I had a delivery coming tomorrow and could I add another item to my order, only to be told id have to pay the full delivery charge again! This just seems a bit ridiculous to me, why pay twice for someone to come to my door with both the items at the same time? considering I could place another order up to 8 or 9pm tonight, it just seems a bit unfair to pay twice.
I just cant get any sense out of their customer service reps on the phone nowadays as well.

    I assume your order was picked and prepared for despatch once the order was placed. The cost of finding and repacking your order would probably be more than the charge you've been levied. I assume their courier charges per package,

    come on
    these are large scale organisations
    when you placed the 2nd order,it goes through just like any other order
    they cant simply jump to an order on the line and tag onto it
    the cost isnt simply about the courier
