Change of circumstances & child tax credits question

My OH has been made redundant & has called TC helpline but didn't understand what he was told.
I work 8 hours a week, we have 2 children in full time education (one on DLA middle care component) and savings over 16k.
My question is will all this years income to date be counted to recalculate our CTC award or will it be calculated on what we have coming in now?
I'm going to call tax credits helpline again but wonder if anyone here knows. Thanks

  • Yes, the sum total of this years income will be used.

For example if OH has earned £5k to date, you'll earn £4k over the year and there will be another £3k in unemployment benefits then the total used to work out the award would be £12k.

If your OHs income has dropped by more than the disregard of I think its £6k or £8k when there's a drop then the change will be immediate, if not then it will be in the 2013-2014 award as an underpayment OTTOMH.
