Unmarked grave query

Options
A neighbour died and had no living family in this country and was therefore put in an unmarked grave paid for by the council.
I managed to contact a brother of his in Oz and he has sent me money to buy things for the grave...£40.
My question is this - apart from flowers, would I be allowed to place a plaque or something similar at the graveside?

You'd have to ask the council. The rules vary from place to place.

    How nice of you OP!

It may depend on if the plot is a 'lawn grave' which means that you may only be allowed to put one item on it such as a plaque or stone urn of flowers so that the council can mow the grass easily.

Your local council will have links to their cemeteries and what's acceptable in each.:)
