Cost of radio advertising?

Hey all i am preparing a business plan for college, and am really stuck on this.
How much roughly would a radio advertisement on a station such as Birmingham’s BRMB to promote my confectionary business, basically all i want is the radio station to say 'courtesy of x (my company) we have £100 gift voucher to give away to a caller who can answer the following question) cost? - (during the 0700 -0900 hour period and to run for a week *7 days*)
I thought the radio station might let me just donate the gift vouchers, however im told by my college tutor that i would have to pay for them to voiceover the question and promote my business.

This isn't too much use but when we approached BRMB or a radio station of a similar standard in Birmingham they asked for upwards of £1k to advertise our vacancies!0

I got a quote from a local radio station (similar to the one you mention) and it was £1,500+ for a week run of a advert. I don't have the details with me now but I would say in that region for something local. I'll see if I can hunt out anything more specific.
I'm not convinced it's the best form of advertising (value for money) but I think it depends on the business.
Why don't you email them saying you are XXXX from a new marketing company working on behalf of a certain type of company (whatever it is you will be doing, don't need to give all the details) and ask them what the cost would be. If you sound professional and act it you'd be surprised how seriously people will take you.

You would be better off phoning them up and talking to them. They should offer to offset the cost of the prize against the cost of advertising.
If you donate them the voucher they will probably give you a plug but you may not be able to stipulate when the competition is run and how many times it is mentioned.
We give local radio stations 5 pairs of adult tickets to give away as prizes in order to promote the air show we organise. We leave it up to them when they run the competitions, were just happy with the free exposure. We also do the same with the local papers.0 -

I used to work for a radio station much smaller than BRMB and a long time ago so I don't have any current rates.
It was a question we used to get asked by college students a lot. Just call and tell them why you need the info and they will probably help you.Make £2026 in 2026

Yeah I reckon your best bet would probably be contacting the radio station directly and telling them your situation. I am sure they would be more than happy to tell you a price for a project.

That was for a few days, I'm not too sure of the full details however.0 -
BRMB will be very expensive.
By comparison, I was quoted £5 (yes, a fiver!) for a single 15 second ad on Radio Caroline, a few months back!
Edit: I have found their rate card. If you want me to email it to you in pdf format drop me a message.0
