Hello everybody I need advice I'm in a very dificult position as my husband is leaving as he has other woman and I don't have a job I have a kid from a previous relationship .
He agreed to pass the tenancy to me of the council flat where we live so I would like to claim housing benefit along with others .
My questions are could I claim JSA ,housing benefit and low income if I still didnt get divorce ? I dont have NI contributions as I used to be house wife but looking for job very actively in the past months when he said what his plans was .
He is getting a mortgage miles away from here so I'm afraid that would affect me as we are still married but plan to divorce quick !
Please help

You need to speak to your housing department about ending the joint tenancy and asking them to transfer it to your name only.
See here:

If they agree to this then you will be able to put in a claim for any benefits that you are eligible for. eg, JSA, HB, CTB and Child credits.
Do not forget to notify Tax credits of your change of circumstances.0
