DLA Renewal

If you send in your DLA renewal form well before your previous award period is up, is there any risk of not receiving your last payments? For example, my ex was awarded high/high for 2 years, and his last payment for that period will be at the end of October. If he sends his renewal form in right now and they decide to lower his rate(s), would it affect his last payments from his previous award period (ie. that ends at the end of next month)? Or would the new rates only apply after the initial 2-year period is up?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I can't help with your answer as my DLA has always remianed at the same level, but, personally, I would rather send the form back early than send it at the last minute as you risk payments stopping whilst they come to a decision. There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. We're definitely sending it in early for that reason, but he's going to be in a blind panic, I think, in the meantime!0

Hopefully someone will be able to answer your question.
There is the chance that the award changes early if there is a change in decision, I would think, though.
Hopefully, the DWP will award the right level for your OH and he can then leave that worry aside. GL

Hi
My sons award amount changed when I sent his renewal in recently. His existing rate will be paid until it runs out in December, then the different rate will apply.0 -
When we renewed the existing rate was paid until the end of the original award period, then the new (increased in our case) rate paid... However the award letter only arrived with 3-4 weeks of award left... and we'd submitted it in mid-May for a mid-August date. (The wrote in March to advise us to submit a new application).
If you haven't submitted the form by now, chances are they won't have time to assess the claim before the current award expires at the end of next month (Oct)!!0
