Squeaking tumble dryer

I have a White Knight 3kg tumble dryer that is about 18 months old (so out of warranty). I have just put in a loud of washing to dry and now it is making a squeaking noise on each rotation (like it needs oiling).

I cannot afford to buy a new tumble dryer so I am hoping this is nothing serious and just a noise dryers make after a while.

Can anyone advise on whether there is anything I can do to stop the squeak?

    Hi,

As you suggest, something probably just wants a drop of oil, or if it has a bearing that may be on its way out.
The tumble dryer should be pretty basic to take apart, maybe just take the top off and find what part is squeaking.
  • It must be the day of the squeaking tumble dryers... as ours has just started doing this.... I dont know if I trust OH to see where the squeak is coming from. Is it possible that if he oils it, it may become a fire hazard??

  • It could be the belt which is wrapped around the drum.

Take the top off and put some talc on it.

THat depends what kind of oil he uses. Liberal coatings of extra virgin would not be a good idea!

It could be lots of things really, Worth checking if there is any item of clothing that has slipped through the front seal.
I had a similar thing which was a the drum seal which had become dislodged.

I would not mess around with a tumble dryer, it gets hot and you would not want a fire though dodgy DIY.
