I have obtained a IBM T21 laptop in pieces, the previous owner was replacing the hard drive!! I got it as I have a T21 with a suspected blown motherboard. The thinking been that I could rebuild one laptop from the sum of two parts.
I, unfortunatley dont have the time to rebuild the laptop, work have me working 12 hour days and staying away from home.
Questions
How much is a likely rebuild going to cost me?
Who should I use for the rebuild?
Any help apprecaited as this is an expensive looking bookend :S
Thanks for your time and help.

I had to get my laptop fixed a few months back. It ended up just being a replacement CDRW/DVD drive. However, that cost close to £200 (including parts and labour, but no VAT). I also found it incredibly difficult to find someone who would do the job. The main companies (PC World, etc) avoid them like the plague!! Looking back, I do wonder whether it would have been worth merely taking the hit and buy a new one. I believe that Dell are doing them for less than £400 now.Organisation and planning are for those who can't handle stress and caffine

You could look in the local directory for pc repiars but as you say, they would most likely avoid anything technical. The company that i work for does do laptop repair for major manufacturers, take a look at their site for info https://www.teleplan.com . If it was mine i think i would sell the parts on ebay as a project for someone and go to Dell and buy one with a warranty.

thanks for your time gents, it would have been nice to be able to find someone to rebuild the device. But as has been pointed out 1) so-called PC local repair people do not provide this service 2) the cost would make buying a new laptop a better propect.
