Fitted Kitchen

Hi have had a look around for a new fitted kitchen and the design i have seen is sold by quite a few different companies (white handleless gloss) but feel i really need a whole new layout and would welcome design ideas from the companies.

Went to b&q, magnet and an independant for a comparison in cost and not one has got back with a quote!

Can anyone recommend a good company with good customer service for a mid range priced kitchen? plus I am considering a independant kitchen designer if anyone has any recommendations?

any help appreciated

Not an independent but we got ours in that style from Benchmarks (same company as wickes). They seemed the best value and the designer was the only one we met who actually came up with a design that met our requirements.

We went to both independents and chains and its completely hit and miss as to whether you will get a good designer from either. My best advise is to spend a bit of time using one of the online kitchen planners yourself. I found that a good one to get started with was wrens but there are loads out there. You will know best what you like and it will help you in the process if you can play around with making your own design.

I must of spent 10+ hours playing with plans and ended up with a very good idea of what it would all look like and it was really worth it given that we spend so much time in a our kitchen.

I have spent alot of time playing with the plans online but the designs i have come up with are boring! got some plans back from magnet again uninspiring so i think will take the plunge and get a designer in - such a small price to pay think i prefer expert advice. Went to visit DIY kitchens and was impressed with the quality and price anyone got any experience of them?

Yeh I found a lot of designers were like that. What would you like thats exciting in a kitchen though? It might be worth while thinking about what are the things you think make an attractive kitchen? Ovens/microwaves/steamers built into tall units? A modern gloss/handle-less doors? Its going to be hard for any designer to make you a design you like if you don't know what you want.

Try putting a few images of your designs and ideas on here. People are very willing to help.

Agree with Jaynne here, you need to give a designer a brief of needs and wants. They need something to go on other they will either do boring, or design a wow kitchen that does not fit your needs....
  • well i have started with a pictures found of the net of things i like as a starting point have a meeting with a kitchen fitter to see certain things i would like are possible in my kitchen thanks for your tips
