in Credit cards
Hi all,
I was just wondering if i could get some help from all the very clued up people on here,
I am going away in a few weeks travelling for 4 months but i find myself short of my funds required so i was wondering if the credit cards 0% on purchases applied abroad?
I have found the post office to have 0% fee's for purchases abroad and 3 months 0% on purches but wondered if this would mean i just have to pay interest when i get back in 4 months time?
Or if i would be better off taking out a short term loan?
Thanks in advance if anyone can help
Kind Regards
Paul

No foreign transaction fees has nothing to do with 0% interest. 0% interest should apply to all purchases no matter where they are made. However, remember that you still need to make the minimum payment each month. Will you be able to do that while abroad?
In any case, you will start paying interest from the 3rd month. Maybe you weren't being clear, but when you get back, you have to pay the interest as well as the money you have spent... if you are short of funds already, then you will be paying 16.9% for a long time after that. If you can get a loan at a low rate, that may be better, but I would also look at shortening the holiday...
Without revealing more about your finances nobody can really advise what is best for you.0 -
do you have an income
do you alreadyhave a credit card
but in principle a 0% credit card willwork abroad
you will need ro make the minimum monthly payment0 -
Thank you both i have thought about it again and as mentioned it will be best for me to get a short term loan with a 2month beginning break and then pay off when i return!
But it is also good to know that i could get a 0% for 6months on purchases and use this abroad.
Thanks again.
Very much appreciated!0
