Voucher Scam?

I have a lot of John Lewis vouchers I'm considering selling on ebay.
The thing I do not understand is why the vouchers appear to sell for their face value. I would have thought £100 of vouchers may sell for £85/90... however... often the vouchers are selling for exactly what their face value is.
Why would people do this?
Is it almost like a free cash advance from a credit card? But then I suppose you are lumped with the vouchers and not cash as such.

I read on here once that it can be a useful way of getting the money out of your paypal account without it hitting your bank account.
Say, for instance, you were on benefits but had a lot of money from your ebay business-that's-not-really-a-business-honest-guv, you wouldn't want that hitting your bank account and losing you your nice comfy funded-by-the-tax-payer life style..........
Although I'm sure there's other reasons too
