Supermarket etiquette?

Usually wander round the supermarket in my own wee bubble I'm afraid. I try not to get in anyones way and slalom through the crowds (tend to only need a basket). Although I did run over one sprog once, I was looking up at the top shelf, felt some resistance at my knees followed by some loud blarting. Ooops.:rotfl:
If there's a queue at the checkout I close my eyes and chill.:cool:0 -
Just go at 2am. Not only are there barely any people in there and an abundance of stocking staff to help should you need it, but all the parent/child and disabled spaces are free so you can park closer to the store.Whatever doesn't kill me, can only make me stronger.

My local Asda is in the centre of town, so it gets all the walking chavs and scroats. Driving me potty, so i now avoid like the plague and go to Sainsburys on the outskirts, which you need a car to get to! :rotfl:0

You make it sound like a zombie invasion, oh, wait a minute. It is! :rotfl:0 -

Up here shops close at the old-fashioned time of 10pm at the latest (Tesco 13 miles away might be open later some nights).Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

I hate going shopping, and I bet I do stuff that annoy other people too.
But I have to admit at how impressed I am at how British people queue. Not always, but almost. In stark contrast from where I come from :rotfl:0 -
I am one of those annoying people that says 'sorry' to people ALL the time, but even I get annoyed sometimes in supermarkets. Our co-op is whoopsie heaven so I brave the pensioners in there sometimes but in the daytime. If I forgot something I usually wait until OH is home with the children and go to Tesco on the bus at 9pm! if nothing else it gets me some quiet alone time
That's only for forgotten stuff though, mostly we shop online.
Would I take all 5 to Tesco? No. We've gone to co op on the way home now and again but I really try to avoid it.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

These kind of people used to annoy me. Now, I just chill as getting wound up and stressed about these things doesn't do anyone any good. It's been such a revelation! I don't tend to go shopping around rush hour though, mainly due to the traffic around here and I would be wasting petrol stuck in slow moving traffic0

I hated shopping when the kids were little as ex wouldn't let me leave them at home so they all had to come with me.
These days I have to wait till one of the kids can go with me as I don't like going alone. If I do I can be there for hours trying to pluck up the courage to approach a till which means it's often the busiest time as they are at work/college.
All those years of wishing I could go shopping without them and I still can't14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Thank you for all the replies everyone! Some of the little niggles have had me laughing out loud like a loon

I think I'll just continue to keep going when I need to and try to ignore any comments other shoppers make. You've all made me paranoid now though at the thought of how many people are side-eyeing me and the pram!
I didn't know there where places were online shopping was still unavailable! I'm so grateful for having the option haha. Before I had LO and began to do the pram and basket balancing act, I used to get full on trolley rage at the people who would stand and chat in the middle of the aisles and have to restrain myself from accidentally losing control of the trolley. I remember one time saying "excuse me, can I just squeeze past please" ever so politely to a pair of middle aged ladies and they tutted at me but moved and after I thanked them and walked past I heard one of them say "that was bloody rude wasn't it!". It took a lot of self control not to turn round and show them what rude really is! I try to stay calm now though and only get annoyed when someone goes to lean over the pram and baby when I haven't noticed them rather than just give me a nudge to let me know they want to get something. Or when you get the odd person who decides to whack the pram with their basket even though we are tucked right out of the way with loads of space to pass. Ooooh I'm getting trolley rage now so best stop rambling before my brain explodes!:hello::wave::hello::wave:0
