I wish the allotments near us would have days for selling produce to locals. I would love to get some locally sourced food with NO food miles. I asked a freecycler whom I know has an allotment and she assures me that they don't do things like that. Such a shame :(

Just noticed this, so before I go wanted to say, it is against our lease to sell on the produce from our allotment not sure if that is the same everywhere. Might make sense that as Miss Laid says people do it at car boots away from where it is grown.

Yup I know I disappeared for the last week. But I have a great excuse.....and he's sleeping upstairs in his cot.

Zac Edward was born on 14th September at 12:48am weighing 6lbs 13oz. Labour was amazingly fast. Medically it was only 1 hour. But it was only 4 hours between waters going and having my little man in my arms.

Was kept in so long because of some medical concerns, but am home at last and all is going well.

Once again I didn't expect the birth for a good few weeks....and then he decides to come early. I will sort a pic out....but for now they're all on my camera and I have things all over the place.

Note: If someone would kindly fill me in on the current glitches I'd be very grateful. I'd imagine I have hundreds of posts to try and get through.

Congratulations rchddap1, glad it all went ok even if a little early, hope things keep going from strength to strength for you both xx

  • I don't usual take part in threads or anything like that, I'm not the most computer savvy. I live in Norfolk, if that is local to you?

nope I'm near Worcester, so not you I've seen before. You don't need to be that computer savvy for this site just shopping savvy. People are friendly and helpful if you get stuck. :)

    Good afternoon all :D

As many of you know my darling neice passed away at the end of July from leukaemia.:(

Last month I won an "experience day" voucher through the redspottedhanky olympic games competition. It finally arrived yesterday:j I said at the time that I would pass the voucher on to those marvellous people at the "Make-a-wish" foundation. Unfortunately it turns out that this prize is "non-transferable".
    Anyhoo, I was looking at the experiences on offer and one caught my eye. A 1hr pop taster where you get your own CD made. Whereupon last night in a drunken state (due to the glithching wine ;)) came up with the following idea;

Would you donate 50p to hear Mad sing? :o (I would release it under Mad or something similar so I could remain anonymous:eek:). Probably around Christmas time just in case it goes viral
All proceeds to go to said charity.
So I can gauge the potential please click the thanks button if you would. :AOr ignore this post if it's a "jog on Mad" :rotfl:

Is it worth you contacting a board guide or somebody from the MSE team to see if there is a possibility of them putting it into the newsletter?

I too have loads of em and mammoth marrows. Ive made both into cakes. Think of carrot cake. I didnt tell anyone what it was and they all had more of both. Google recipies and read comments. Cooked a lot quicker for me and would use less sugar next time.

Wow, never heard of marrow cake! I did find a recipe for marrow and tomato pasta sauce which was quite nice, but marrow cake sounds lovely :D:D:D

Will give it a go next time I have a marrow kicking around, thank you :)

thats ok....the trigger was the Rocky bars....i bought 2 packs of Rockys and 1 pack of AA and 1 pack of AAA....to play it safe :rotfl: but would assume that 1 pack of Rockys will seal the deal....as long as the total is an even number (including the Rockys) :D

make sure you get the right batteries though...the Duracell Ultra....blue and black packs :D

Am I right in thinking either the Rocky Choc Bars or the Rocky Caramel Bars will work? £1 for pack of 9?? A v W
  • Rescue hammies are cute and adorable we have 3 who are spoilt rotton
Katie was prodded and poked , had no food and constantly being woken up when we got her whe was skin and bones now is full of life and a real lady she still wakes up when she hears us and comes downstairs for cuddles
Poppy (a dwarf) was attacked by her sister so was truamatised
Timmy (our little boy) again starved and prodded and poked about no wonder he was so stressed out and squeaked for hours on end wouldn't take treats from you thinking it was something nasty nearly a year on he's a typical teenager playing hide and seek in his home gets stroppy if you wake him up and puts bedding up to say leave me alone just like my 15 year old DD

I assume you are using sawdust in the bottom. Try the carefresh bedding made out of recycled paper. they are heavier than sawdust and makes less mess!!

I said I wouldn't ever buy a pet in a pet shop and I must say I was very surprised coming across a hamster rescue on the web but the lady was lovely. she had a room full of cages and rescued them from pet shops, etc. They were all handled well and she suggested one for my little boy. I must confess hubby and me are nuts about the little fellow who is spoiled rotten! I do use carefresh but he is just the messiest creature. The cage doesnt help either as it is huge and had 4 different level (all of which he messes up!) and it's hard to get to but I shall perservere. When it's hubbie's duty to clean out "Hercules" he just uses the hoover (and removes the hamster first!!!) and it takes him no time at all! Men, eh?
BTW, I am not sure about those exercise balls at all.. Do they really like it? They cats are certainly a bit freaked out when teh hamster comes at them in his flurescent orange ball and knocks them out of the way.....:rotfl:
