request flexible working

Hi help needed
I work 40 hours a week I am 19 weeks pregnant :j I want to go back to work just 3 days a week I have spoke to my boss and at the moment he is okay about this, today someone said at work that I would not be able to go back to my job if I did this  she at times thinks she knows everything and it is up to her.
Now do I fill in a form to request flexible working or is it to early

I think you need to wait until the little one is born. They can turn it down but have to have a good business reason for it. You need to be careful though that work is behind you. I work for a large organisation. My request to return part time was agreed to but then I went back to a different manager who doesnt think its suitable to work part time at my job. He cant get rid of me now because of that though so is saying I am not doing my job properly and is looking to get rid of me on capability procedures, just bringing pressure to bear to get me to hand my notice in. If your work isnt supportive they can make it really hard going back part time. Still I would strongly recommend it. I think its the best of both worlds. Best of luck.

Ignore the silly person who thinks she knows it all!
I worked with someone like this when I went back after my 1st maternity leave. I went back part time after 18 months maternity leave, and it was the week the boss was on holiday. I was nervous as it was, and this woman was very knowledgable about what my new duties would be. I wound myself into a complete state about it, was on the point of handing in my notice and it all turned out to be nonsense!

Part time, if you're able to do it, is definitely the best of both worlds

Good luck with the new baby!:)

Oh ignore her. I had exactly the same with someone in the office actually phoning me up to tell me that as she worked mornings i would have to work every afternoon if i wanted to work part time, so there was no point in asking for full days. Yes... and you are my boss since when?... and who gave you my phone number?...

People seem to think that if others work part time it will effect their hours; i found this especially with other part timers.

Listen to your boss, and tell anyone with an opinion to take up with him.
