Best Free Security for Windows XP?

Hi all, I have an old laptop that has been gathering dust and it runs on Windows XP. I currently use Norton on my other devices but have used all of that up as it only allows me to put it on 3 laptops/PCs etc.
I don't particularly want to buy software for the old laptop as I probably wont use it that much. What would you say the best free security software is for an older operating system or does all antivirus work with all operating systems?

Most will say which version of Windows are suitable
If you happen to download one which is not suitable for XP then XP is unlikely to install it0 -

You will get ALOT of various opinions and recommendations, just take a look about, read reviews if you unsure and go for it. One thing i do recommend though, don't download multiple Anti-Virus's because they will work against each other and may miss out parts of your system.
You should only need 1x AV, 1x Anti-Spyware, 1x Firewall.Better to understand a little than to misunderstand a lot.0 -
I use these on my XP machines:
Avira (the version before the current one).
Spybot - Search & Destroy
SpywareBlaster
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Comodo Free Firewall0
