Long term car leases

Me and my wife are thinking about leasing a car which seems to becoming an increasingly popular alternative to buying/ having one on HP.

Any bad stories out there and companies you would reccommend? Just fact finding at the moment.

Is your job secure? If you lost it a couple of months after starting the lease do you have the money to pay the full term from savings?

If you do get one and damage it make sure a proper dealer repairs it. Some people have had issues with them saying the repairs were substandard.

Doesnt suit everyone. I wouldnt lease.

Don't do it! Leasing pays the dealership well, and the never (AFAICT) rebate any of this to the purchaser. Unless you opt for lease-purchase and agree to the ends balloon payment, it will never be yours.

Also, insurance can be a problem as with a number of companies, they are the Registered Keeper, not you. Any parking tickets legal/speculative are paid irrespective of your wishes, and then passed to you with an invoice charge. It is quite a commitment, and not recommended unless you have crystal balls that confirm your future financial stability.
