Off duty cops nabbed speeding
http://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/9932373.North_Yorkshire_PC_caught_during_blitz_on_speeding_bikers/
2 off duty coppers nabbed speeding doing 86mph in a 60mph zone, one PC accepted the driver awarness course and was not prosecuted, the second PC argued the toss and went to court as her denied he was speeding. At Bridlington Magistrates Court he was convicted for speeding and his licence endorced with four points, he was also fined £300 and £315 costs.
The pleb appealed (probably thinking he could play the system), and at Hull Crown Court he lost again, the Judge there accepted the prosecuting Police officers statement that he believed both bikers had been speeding. He was ordered to pay further Crown Court costs of £415 bringing his total to £1030 :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Aint it a shame when coppers get the shittyend of the stick

Interesting. I ignored a NIP once as the officer tried to do myself and a mate at the same time saying he started the clock on the lead bike and stopped it on the second.
Refused to show the evidence in the car though and never heard another thing after completing a producer.
the kicking up dust bit is also interesting. I'm not a fan of people moving over to let bikes past in free flowign traffic. It happens most mornings and while well intended on a 50mph road with the traffic already at 50mph there is no need to move over and shower me with everything from the gutter, I don't have to speed just because I'm on a bike and if I do need to pass you I'll do it when I think it is safe to do so.
Now it seems it can be used against you in court which is a tad harsh!
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

I only do that when they're close enough to hold onto my spoiler; which to me shows intention that they to want to pass. For a vehicle with a much greater power to weight ratio than mine I'm more than happy to oblige.0 -
I have no problems letting bikes past me on the A6. Reason being I've yet to ever be held up on a journey by a motorbike, plus if they're prepared to end up in pieces if they have an accident I don't begrudge them going before me.
Just a shame they've ruined the road between buxton and macclesfield as there are average speed cameras and numberous slow down warnings for bikers (although 50mph average is quite a challenge on the windy bits).0 -

same, have no issues letting bikes past, they have good acceleration so they'll be out of your sight in no time.0 -

Same. The Bikers always appreciate it too with a nod or a wave. Much more polite than car drivers!0 -

One other reason to pull over slightly when a bikes approaching from the rear is to let them know that you've seen them. I've done a fair bit of biking over the years myself and often came across car drivers who just weren't aware of who was doing what around them.
Once I knew that a driver in front had seen me, I'd feel a lot more comfortable overtaking because they were less likely to do some stupid last-second manoevre.
I also made sure I wasn't too close to the vehicle in front. That's something a lot of bikers are guilty of and I wish they'd sort that out. It's no good whining on about how vulnerable you are if you ride so close to the vehicle in front that you don't have time to react if they have to anchor on, or if something's in the road that you'll need to swerve around.0 -

It's improved it for the rest of us though.
No hold ups while they pick some biker up off the edge of the road, and you don't have to drive over broken bits of fairing anymore.0 -
I think I remember reading the Organ Transplant Service were starting a petition to get the cameras etc removed0

To be honest I don't like pulling in for motorbikes. Why should I damage the suspension on my car hitting all the drains at the side of the road so they can break the law and then run into another car round a bend doing 90mph and blame the car driver for pulling out? It's utter madness how many motorcyclists will blame car drivers for not seeing them.
I've known lots of motorcyclists in my life and every single one has had a serious accident. Only one of them has ever admitted he was at fault while all the others (the over confident ego headed types) have all blamed the driver of the car / lorry etc yet bragging in the next sentence about doing 80-90mph frequently.0 -

I'll do it, but only if the positioning of the biker is really starting to P me off.
As a rule of thumb if you ride so close that you would be considered tailgating, your full beam headlight flickering away in my mirrors* leaving lovely purple and green blobs in my vision even in the daytime and/or you weaving about side to side in a fashion that resembles a 70mph version of the cone slalom you do during the CBT session, then I'm going to assume you want to get past me.
As with aggressive car drivers, the easiest way to be rid of them is to just let them past.
The headlight thing just means I'm less likely to look at you in the mirrors in the meantime, and may even have to dim the rear one.
Note: This is the metaphorical you, I am not accusing anyone in this thread of riding in this way.
* Yes I know why you have your full beam on, and I know that you can't help the flickering as it's due to the way the road surface wobbles the bike about, but those facts don't suddenly make it less unpleasant to be followed by a head height full beam light at close range.0
