Car Sounds Like A Helicopter!

Options
Hi All,

I have a 2005 Mini Cooper which has 64,000 miles on the clock.

I have just had the gearbox bearings replaced at a cost of £580. Having had the car back from the garage for a couple of weeks, another problem has developed. When turning left it sounds like a helicopter. I just wonered whether anyone knows if this is likely to be related to the work I have just had done or whether it is likely to be something else. The garage checked my wheel bearings and they were fine. I am going to take it back to the garage but just wanted to see if anyone on here had any ideas so that i'm not going in blind and having them rip my eyes out for something else.

Thanks.

You need to get the car back to the garage, up in the air and check the wheel bearings and cv joints.
  • That's more than likely a CV joint, my last car did the same after a gearbox change. I probably gave the joint a bit too much manhandling when removing it from the hub - it was pretty stuck.
