100% agree in a EICR irrelevant of the wiring fault aswell. For the sake of £100ish its seems a no brainer to find out what your up against

  • Thanks for all your replies.

I really appreciate you giving your time to respond.

The plaster has advised me to wait a few days for the rooms to dry out, so as to allow for any wires that may be damp to dry out and having spoken to a few electrians in addition to reading all your responses that seems like that might be the best thing to do, before getting an electrician out.

Given that my mum might be living in a bit of a death trap I'm going to ask the electrians about an EICR irrelevant of the outcome.

I'll let you know how I get on and keep you updated.

    Once again thanks

  • good call angeleyes, it will be beneficial in the long run. and yes makes sense to let it dry out first.

make sure you come back here with any prices you get, even at the EICR stage, make sure you also check they are registered. I use our own staff so havent had to check but i'll find out where for you and could possibly even look on our systems.

Ignore what they tell you always ask for the id/reg No as i have known so many operating on out of date regulations even though they have informed client they are current.

Im subscribed so keep us posted :)
