wholesale and job lots

Hi. Does anyone buy wholesale/job lots on e-bay and resell them. Is this allowed? If so is it advisable to have a seperate id. I have a feedback score of nearly 100 at present.

Thanks for your help.

It is always best to use different ids for buying and selling.

As for wholesale lots, be careful..if they are already being sold on ebay then why isn't the seller breaking them down and selling them on himself? You might find a lot of the wholesale stuff is not suitable for ebay, but possibly can be churned out at car boot sales instead.

A lot of the job lots/wholesale items on eBay appear to be end of lines or slow moving stock that the seller was unable to sell themselves.

Thanks for your replies. I know it may be obvious, but why is it best to have seperate ids for buying and selling soolin?

so people can't see how much you have paid for things you are trying to sell

Ooh. I never thought of that. Have been doing both to build up my feedback score. How do you create another id, and can they both be linked to the same paypal account?

All you need is another email address in order to set up another eBay ID.

I regularly hunt out cheap stock on eBay and buy with one of a few low feedback newbie style accounts, but then resell them from my Powerseller account and shop. I would not like buyers seeing how much I paid for the items in the first place, just the same as shops do not reveal their true cost price.

As a volume seller it is worth keeping separate ID's for accounting purposes - trying to filter out personal and business related items is time consuming ergo - more in accountants fees whilst they sift through costs.

Also, as a buyer I am not afraid to leave neutral or negative feedback where I feel appropriate - obvously after attempting discussion with sellers. Due to the way I ruthlessly hunt out items, I have encountered a few sellers who have been reluctant to sell at a winning bid, or even to negotiate slightly. A buyers account is simply a throwaway ID where I can take few retalitory negs without fear of sacrificing my sellers account.

As long as you keep your nose clean with regards to ebay policies, then there is no limit to active accounts that can be run. Default on one though, and all are likely to be suspended. I have 6 accounts registered to one address and 2 paypal accounts, each has a distinctly different eBay ID and corresponding email address, but otherwise all personal details are identical.

Likewise, there is nothing stopping people opening and running multiple selling accounts, again, as long as all policies are adhered to.

With regards selling wholesale stock, many of the sellers are general wholesalers who happen to sell bulk on eBay - many do not have the time or resource to list individual items.

Be wary though of high feedback sellers listing a job lot of product lines that they also sell individually - these will be the slow moving lines or tatty items that they can't or won't shift, although consumable items such as Jiffy Bags and DVD's will be sold simply to broaden the sellers' market share - capturing both trade and retail style customers.

Finally - and it's important!! Never by anything "untested" - basically it is a euphemism for "tested, not working"!!
