Keep paying a utility bill in the UK even though now live in the US?

We rent a house in the UK and the tenants pay for all the bills.
We pay for the mortgage.
We live in the USA.
We want to apply for a second mortgage but worried that our credits score in the UK has gone down due to living in the USA.

Should we consider paying at least one utility bill (i.e. council tax) to help improve our credit score? Does it make any difference? Will our mortgage payments be enough?

Thx in advance for any tips/advice.

Paying council tax does not affect your credit score. You need to maintain bank accounts and other credit products in the UK, and you should be on the electoral roll in the UK. Whether you can do this (legally and in practice) while spending most of your time in the US is your decision.
  • Thanks for feedback thus far.

On electoral roll and maintaining UK bank accounts.

    All definitely legal!

But you dont live in the UK, so are very unlikely to get credit.

why then has your credit rating gone down because you live in the US?

in any event a mortgage lender will ask for your (UK) address and whether you have lived in the UK for at least 3 years.
