Commercial to Private NCD

Does anyone know of a motor insurance company/group who will GENUINELY honour NCD secured under a commercial vehicle policy against a private vehicle?
I have full NCD (10 yrs plus), gained on commercial insurance for my old Transit van.
I no longer have the van but want to insure a small Vauxhall Corsa for private use.
So far companies have refused, including the company I had the van insured with.
Another claimed they would honour my NCD entitlement on a private policy but then quoted me an extremely similar price for the car with Private cover to the quote given to me for my van, had I wanted to renew my policy.
I have no other NCD with a private vehicle as I used the van all the time - couldn't afford two vehicles then.
All and any help appreciated.
Thanks

If is true they will accept and convert your NCB but they are just uncompetitive (aka expensive) then it might be worth taking out the policy and cancelling within the cooling off period which should generate a new NCB letter you can use elsewhere.0 -
My mate lost his no claims when he couldnt find any companies that would accept his trade no claims.
Even though he transferred his private no claims to a trade policy and made no claims.
Couldnt find anyone that would accept it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
