Glad you had a result, but make regular backups going forwards, OH and don't just backup Docs/Pics/etc also backup the rest of C:\Users\your-name tooGuys, thank you so much for all your help yesterday. I worked through the whole list and followed all your advice (until my eyes went square) and the laptop was still running really slowly. Eventually I did a factory restore, crossed my fingers and hoped I wasn't about to blow it up.
It's worked a treat and I learned a lot in the process!
