Primus telecom

I changed my provider to Primus through this site in October 2010 and the price had gradually drifted up to around £12, but when I got my bill this month it has doubled to £25, yet the offer is still on this website. Any ideas what to do?:(

  • Simple, stop making so many calls.

You must be including your calls in those prices because Primus line rental is not that expensive. How is it anyone else's fault if you make more phone calls? At the very least, use an override provider such as 1899.

How do you know how many calls they are making? my telephone costs have increased this month by 40% due to them randomly adding caller display.

  • The offer for Primus via this website costs/costed around £7.99 so where else could £17 comes from? How many telephone providers charge £17 for caller display? It isn't logical IMO and far more likely to be calls. I'm not saying that part of the extra isn't from something else but I cannot see all of it being due to add on features that were not asked for.

However the OP made no attempt to clarify the reason for the increase, it was far more sensational to say it had risen from 12 to £25. Has caller display been added and the rest because of increased calls? Guessing is all we can do, my guess would be that a lot of it is because of calls. Any other reason is highly unlikely IMO.

I also discovered my primus home phone saver bill increasing with Caller Display being added roughly half-way through a 12-month contract. I got through by helpline, but the agent could not see a record of it being ordered. I have sent an email to request a refund.

Has anyone else found Caller Display being added? Do check Now!
  • I am new to the forum but just wanted to mention my experience with Primus my new phone company. I read with interest how one lady's phone bill had doubled. I too had this same experience - it was never the price I signed up for. When I eventually investigated I realsed I had misread the offer. I assumed (wrongly) that daytime LOCAL calls were free as they were with my previous provider. WRONG. I have been paying them for the last 4 months and they're not cheap. Please don't make my mistake. LOCAL calls are not free during the day. Could kick myself but it's done now and I know and have ceased using the phone before 6pm. :T

There is no such thing as a 'local' call, and hasn't been for decades. It costs the same to dial next door as it does to dial the other end of the country. Base tariffs are only ever inclusive of weekend and/or evening calls, anytime calls are always extra, typically £5 per month.
