Affordability and having children, clarification

I know that is not particularily helpful for you, but I just can't understand how affordability is not a huge consideration when having children! Sorry I am not intending to aim at you, but it's just such a world apart from how we have been thinking.

Anyway, back to the help part. Is there absolutely nothing you can do to bring some extra money to the household? Is it possible to work part time? Or opposite shifts to your husband? Anyway to get more money coming into the household? £10,500 seems such a low amount (admitedly I might have this warped as I am basing everything on London!) to support one person on, let alone 6.

Hhhm just read a couple of your other posts and their seems to be some confussion as to how many children you have...Is it 4 or 5?

I have 5 children altogether, my eldest is 19 and working, living part time with her Dad, my other 4 are 14 (my husbands daughter from a previous relationship), 13 and 12 year old twins(my 3 from a previous relationship)
We both had our children long before we got together and were in very different circumstances back then.

Hope this clarifies things for everyone, feel like I've been slated on here today, just wanted some real advice and help.

I presume that your DP's wage has gone down over the years then since you say his circ were very different.

Why is he in such a low paid job ? Surely at his age he should have gained experience and qualifications ? a 10k job at tesco or wherever is ok for a school leaver but not for a grown man with a family. Perhaps you should go on to benefits for a year or two and have your OH go to uni or soemthing ?

You are not being slated, you asked why you were poor and have been told lots of reasons - none of which you liked. We make our own fortunes and you need to work to get money, not just long hours but make choices
