Son given residency of his child

My son & his now ex partner split up in February this year, they have a son who is 13 months old now, she fled with the baby and since March he has been backwards and forwards to the courts gaining contact orders and was granted straight away that his son reside with him from 10am every Wednesday until 4pm every Friday.
The baby's mother and my son are both on benefits, he gets I.B Jobseekers, she gets the Child Benefit & Child Tax Credit, she has been taken back to court for neglect and abandonment and on Friday 14th September after my son had had him for a week due to the abandonment, the court have given my son an Interim Residence Order and the baby now lives with him.
What does he need to claim now? Will she lose her benefits straightaway? Thanks for any help with this.

If the child is only in his care for wed-fri, then he cannot claim CB (without the other carer agreeing).
If the child lives with him now fulltime, then he needs to claim CB.
This can't be contested by the mother, but it may take some time to come through.
He can then if he chooses go onto income support, instead of jobseekers. The child tax credit would also go into his name.
He can still seek work on IS.0 -
Thanks for this, he is with my son 7 days a week now, I will pass on your information :0)0
