Some kind of echinacea?Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

It is Berkheya Purpurea . It is a native to South Africa hence the spiky stem!
T&M sell it for £1.49 for 25 seeds.If you don't ask, you don't get!

My pleasure, Fyi it is a Perennial (but tender, I think if you sow it in April you should get flowers that year in the summer, although I am unsure as to whether this is correct so don't quote me). Sarah Raven has it too on her seed website. If you don't ask, you don't get!

I wouldn't buy theirs anyway! :rotfl:
No, you won't get flowers the same year as it's a short-lived perennial or biennial in this country, and if you want viable seed you need to grow more than one plant.
This is the variety I like; it's more refined than the type.

Actually I wouldn't either:) I prefer Chiltern seeds. Just seen they have a lovely yellow version called Berkheya multijuga which I have to confess to just purchasing... I have not grown these before but I hope the spikey stems might deter the squirrels, that seem intent on digging up anything and everything that is in my garden (except nasturtiums). If you don't ask, you don't get!

Don't want to disillusion you, but that did a great job of dying for me after the slugs had pulverised it. I think it was justy too tender for here.
Agree, totally squirrel-proof, though!
