Hubby left job - what to do?

Hi everyone, I'm newbie and have a bit of a dilemma just wondering if anyone could give me any advice.

My hubby had a good job working at a local hospital on transport, but the hours weren't working out so he decided to look for something that would be days only. He found another job working for a private transport company. He left one job on Saturday this weekend after working his months notice and started the new job on Sunday. The new place is a sham and hubby has not gone in today and told them sorry but he doesn't want the job. They were not going to pay his tax and NI expected him to sort it himself and expected him to put fuel in the vehicles from his own pocket  He also ended up working a twelve hour shift yesterday when he was only supposed to be working eight hours, so he decided to bail. He's been looking for a new job today and wants to get back into work ASAP. In the mean time I need to find out what kind of benefits we will be entitled to.

Our daughter (6) gets DLA highest amount plus mobility and I claim carers allowance for her. We get the usual child benefit and my tax credits will start again next week (due to an overpayment) at £56 per week. We are going to be up **** street if hubby can't find a job. He has phoned up today to put a claim in for JSA and we are going to the council house tomorrow to collect forms for Housing benefit, School meals and Council Tax benefit. I was told today by a nice guy at the job centre that hubby may be able to claim £90.10 JSA/week with a £26.35 carers premium added on top but after that they would take away the 46.95 I get for carers allowance leaving us with 69.50/week JSA. Is this right? That's if the claim goes through ok. Not sure how it will work out being as hubby left the job on his own accord, even though they were messing him about with tax and NI, would this be a good enough reason for leaving a job?

Have been told that if JSA doesn't work out I will be able to claim income support for both of us as I am carer, but I don't know much about this, so some help would be appreciated in this area.

Have informed the Tax Credits office today of the changes too, but they can never tell you over the phone how much you will be getting, you have to wait for the letter to come.... Will they go up?

After some advice if anyone can help?????

Kind Regards

Em
