Selling my phone on CeX

I am planning on sending my phone to CeX to sell it.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace that I bought 2 months ago. It's still in good condition, just a couple of scratches and a missing headset but the box is still intact.

I submitted an a form to sell it and they have offered £110 for it and I have to send it to their address in Herfordshire.

I was wondering if CeX are genuine in their trading? Is there anything I need to be careful of?

How does the actual process work? When I send it to them, do they then process the order and then send the money via Paypal?

The only thing you need to watch for is if they decide the quality of the item is a lower grade than you stated, and therefore offer you less money.
Scratches might mean the quality drops from good to poor, and the selling price drop substabtially.

Do you think it's better to just sell it on ebay?

£110 from CeX is a good price. Just looked on feebay and they go for approx. £100 for locked and £125 unlocked. Take-off the fees and the CeX offer is much higher than you would get on an auction site.
    Never Knowingly Understood.

    Thanks.

Sorry to be a pain, but do you think CeX is trustworthy?

I just hope they don't know off too much, because of the 2 scratches and missing headset.
  • I recently sent 2 items to CeX, a phone and an ipod, which I considered to be excellent condition (and I'm fussy! :D) but they down-graded both to the lowest value (I believe there were 3 levels)
I accepted because I just couldn't be asked to try flogging them on eBay but you can decline and get the item/s returned to you free of charge.

Do you not have a CEX local to you?

They have had issues in the past. Bounced cheques and stores not having enough cash to buy the goods.

But as mentioned the big risk is them dropping the price/ If you happy with their bottom price?

Thanks, I searched for their locations and there seems to be a store in Wimbledon. I will go there tomorrow after work.

I have found that different CeX shops are different in their levels of pickiness.

I was in the Basingstoke one a couple of weeks back and a person there was complaining that the phone they bought had a fault, but the assistant told them basically to go away. Then I had a spare phone and the assistant told me that there was dust under the glass and so they wouldn't be interested; the phone looks fine to me! Perhaps that particular assistant's job was just to tell customers to sod off.

OTOH I took one to one in London a while back that wasn't in great condition (certainly not as good as the more recent one), and they happily took it off me.

Making an excuse not to buy it or refund is easier than saying sorry we dont have enough money in the tills to pay or refund you.

Hi from Buckskin ;):):D. (oops, that sounds like I was your cashier...I wasn't. But my boyfriend lives in Basingstoke, in the Buckskin area to be exact.)
