ahh, i'm heavily shortsighted so constantly wear glasses, maybe that's the difference!
as i say, when i was contemplating buying one DH (a gadget nut) said not to bother with the others as the e-ink technology is superior but that's just the opinion of a man who is an advertiser's dream :) x x

I work for Liverpool libraries and Kindles carnt access our online catologue whereas Kobo etc can. I know there are ways round this but Amazon etc are clamping down on it. It was Amazon that put a stop to it as they want to make as much money as possible!

Had some quite irate people in who were unaware they couldnt download on their Kindles and Amazon dont tell you this.

The way most people make library books 'borrowable' on Kindles has nothing to do with Amazon and they can't really stop it, and are not clamping down.

TeamLowe I'm the same, severely short sighted and can't comfortably read off a backlit screen.

I am very short-sighted and wear glasses at all times, but I have no problems with my Kindle.

As others have pointed out, it's quick and easy to alter the size of the font and reading in sunlight is a breeze. I've been reading mine on the beach these last few weekends with no problem whereas my DD has struggled to read her paperback because of the bright white pages.

I do wish we could borrow from the library though :(
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
